Beat the heat at these local cooling centers

With a heat wave forecast for this weekend, local officials have announced the following cooling centers will be open.

  • Kingston: The first floor of the Ulster County Office Building, 240 Fair St. Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Kingston: Salvation Army, 35 Cedar St, Kingston, 12401, 845-331-1803
  • Plattekill: Plattekill Town Hall, 1915 Route 44-55 Modena. 12-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
  • Rosendale (Tillson): American Legion, 794 Springtown Rd., Saturday 12-5 p.m.
  • Rosendale: Rosendale Recreation Center, 1055 Route 32. Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saugerties: Senior Center, 207 Market St. Friday, Saturday and Sunday by request. Anyone requiring use should first call the Saugerties Police Department at 845-246-9800.
  • Woodstock: Woodstock Town Court, 76 Tinker St. From Thursday until further notice. Anyone in need should contact Woodstock Dispatch at 76 Tinker Street, or call 845-679-2425.
  • Poughkeepsie: Public Safety Building, 505 Main Street. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 19 and Saturday July 20 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21
  • Poughkeepsie: Adriance Memorial Library, 93 Market Street. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 21.
  • Poughkeepsie: Salvation Army Poughkeepsie Corps Community Center, 19 Pershing Avenue, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 19.
  • Poughkeepsie: City officials announced that the municipal pools – Pulaski Park Pool at 162 Washington Street and Spratt Park Pool at 121 Wilbur Boulevard – also will be open for free this Friday through Sunday. Hours of operation are from 1-7 p.m. All children must pass a swim test in order to swim in the deep end of the pool.

  • Lloyd: Lloyd Town Hall, 12 Church St, Highland, 12528, 845-691-7544
  • New Paltz: New Paltz Community Center, 3 Veterans Drive, New Paltz, 12561, 845-255-3631
  • Wawarsing: Wawarsing Town Hall, 108 Canal St, Ellenville, 12428, 845-647-7800
