The Elting Memorial Library’s 66th annual Library Fair was the place to be in New Paltz last weekend. There were some 30,000 books for children and adults, a raffle, silent auction, fun for the children, vendors, food and live music throughout the day.

And what was that heavenly smell wafting up from Huguenot Street? It turned out to be the handmade pies and fritters for sale at Applestock, the annual autumn festival hosted by the Reformed Church of New Paltz. There were live music performances happening for most of the day, tantalizing vendor booths set up, a food tent and another selling locally made beer, wine and cider.

The Reformed Church of New Paltz held its annual Applestock event last Saturday. On hand to welcome visitors were Jim O’Dowd, Holly Shader and Janet O’Dowd.
Despite the rain, last Saturday’s Elting Memorial Library Fair in New Paltz was a well attended success.

New Paltz police sergeant Calvin Halstead and police lieutenant Scott Butler spent their day at the Library Fair doing community outreach offering mental health and substance abuse resources.
Applestock co-organizer Kate Weston joined the Big Blue Big Band for a few numbers at the Reformed Church of New Paltz’s annual autumn celebration last Saturday.

Members of SUNY New Paltz’s volleyball team were volunteering at the Library Fair last Saturday. Pictured are sophomores Bennett Petrik and Michael Kilinski manning the toy booth.
For the Library Fair this year, Margaret Stanne and Gillian Murphy came up with the idea of a booth to sell many varieties of donated yarn.
Young Rowan Kooistra flies through the air at the Library Fair with the greatest of ease with his mom in the pilot seat.
Live music at the Elting Library Fair is always top-shelf and local.
Caris Smith decorated boxes holding apple pies and Logan Saylor helped her to sell them at Applestock last Saturday. Both sixth graders are members of Scouts BSA Troop 172 in New Paltz.
