Ulster County Executive Mike Hein said today that a Ulster County Area Transit bus driver passed away last night after suffering a heart attack behind the wheel.
In a release, Hein said:
“It is with profound sadness that we report the passing of an experienced and valued member of the Ulster County family. At 8:15 p.m. last night Billy Davis, a well-respected bus driver within the County’s Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) system tragically suffered a fatal medical emergency at the intersection of State Rt. 299 and North Putt Corners Road in New Paltz. No other injuries were reported. First responders arrived on the scene, performed CPR and then transported Mr. Davis to Vassar Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with his loving family as well as his coworkers during this time of great sorrow.”
