New York State Police allege a vehicle driven by an intoxicated driver crashed into their patrol car in the early hours of Jan. 1 in Lloyd.
As police were responding to a traffic incident on Rt. 44/55 involving a 2016 Volkswagen, they said a 2025 Volkswagen “collided with the rear of the stationary State Police patrol vehicle, forcing it into the 2016 Volkswagen.”
Police said their flashing emergency lights were on at the time of impact.
The crash resulted in minor injuries for two passengers in the 2016 Volkswagen, a 27-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, who were taken to Dutchess Vassar Brothers Hospital. Two state troopers also sustained minor injuries and were transported to Mid-Hudson Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the 2025 Volkswagen, identified as 36-year-old Jesse Peck of Marlboro, was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Troopers at the scene said they detected a strong odor of alcohol while speaking with Peck. After failing field sobriety tests, he was arrested on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated. Subsequent testing revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.16%.
Peck was additionally charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or higher. He was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket for Lloyd Town Court on Jan. 21.
