Daniel B. Carpinelli, 44, of New Paltz, NY passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
He was born in Kingston, NY on March 31, 1978 to Bernard and Donna (Brown) Carpinelli (Gilboa, NY). He is predeceased by his brother John Carpinelli.
Dan was married to Gina Vaccarino (New Paltz, NY) and is survived by his two daughters, Sydney Carpinelli Jolly of Kerhonkson, NY and Olivia Grace Carpinelli of New Paltz, NY, his brothers, Michael P. Carpinelli along with his wife, Vickie Carpinelli and their daughter Nicolette Carpinelli of Redfield, NY, and Steve Carpinelli of Alexandria, VA, his beloved German Shepard, Jager, and despised feline, Mister Poops. He is also survived by many lifelong friends and relatives with whom he shared his life and various interests.
Dan honorably served his country in the Army from 1997 to 2005 and was employed by the New Paltz Police Department as a patrol officer and investigator. He also served as president of the Police Benevolent Association of New Paltz. Dan was a true “Cop’s Cop” and served the New Paltz community with distinction and honor for 20 years. He was frequently described by friends and family as a good-hearted individual, loving and selfless who truly “Served and Protected” those around him. His infectious laugh and bright smile can never be replaced.
Dan was known for his entrepreneurial endeavors, including starting and running his own business, TSU Earthworks Excavation, building a spec house in New Paltz, and helping his wife, Gina, with The Cake Artist Café & Deli in New Paltz.
Dan has always had an unfailing love of the great outdoors, including sport hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and was a New York State weightlifting champion. From his years growing up in Kingston to the countless times he spent exploring his family’s farm in Upstate, NY, Dan always generously shared his time and resources with family and friends and will be forever loved and remembered.
Friends may call on Friday, July 22, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, 162 S. Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY 12561. Calling hours will continue on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Police and Military Honors commencing at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be private.
