A Middletown man was arrested after allegedly chasing down and cutting off an ambulance rushing to an emergency in Wallkill, blocking the paramedic from reaching the call, according to New York State Police.
The incident allegedly occurred Wednesday, Sep. 10, after an ambulance responded to an emergency call in the Town of Wallkill.
At around 11:36 a.m. on County Route 78 near High Barney Road, investigators say a paramedic was driving a Town of Wawayanda ambulance with lights activated when the vehicle legally passed a 2001 Chrysler. The driver of that vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Terrill Osborne of Middletown, allegedly began following the ambulance at high speed and driving recklessly.
Authorities said Osborne then pulled alongside the ambulance, passed it illegally, and moved in front of it in an attempt to stop its progress. This maneuver obstructed the paramedic from continuing to the emergency scene.
Osborne was taken into custody without incident and processed at the State Police Middletown barracks. He faces charges of obstructing emergency medical services, reckless driving, and several traffic law violations.
He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Wawayanda Town Court on October 9, 2025, at 3 p.m.
