A 26-year-old Kingston man was taken into custody this morning at approximately 9:17am after city police say they discovered he was operating a vehicle with fraudulent license plates. Multiple other traffic-related offenses were lodged against the driver as well.
The Kingston Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit initiated a vehicle stop on Broadway after observing the driver operating in the parking lane. During the stop, officers investigated the vehicle’s suspicious-looking license plates, determining they were forged.
The driver is facing several charges, including Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 3rd Degree, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, driving without a valid license, operating a vehicle without insurance, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the 3rd degree, in addition to other traffic violations.
Following processing, the individual was released with an appearance ticket for Kingston City Court.
