Take a walk through history and let powerful words guide you at the Sojourner Truth Walk, a community celebration honoring the legacy of the trailblazing abolitionist and women’s rights activist. The event kicks off with a shuttle from Dietz Stadium to Esopus Town Hall, where local leaders and Frank Waters, creator of the walk, will set the stage. Along the route, participants will pause at key spots, including Jug Tavern and the Sojourner Truth statue, to experience moving spoken-word performances. The journey wraps up at the Old Dutch Church with refreshments and a stirring reenactment of Truth’s iconic “Ain’t I a Woman?” speech by reenactor Rev. Deborah Zuill.
