Kingston native inducted into NY Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame

Kingston native and 1976 Kingston High School graduate Sandy Mancuso-Lopez will be inducted into the New York Volleyball Coaches Association (NYVCA) Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The ceremony will take place on May 17 at Lake George.

The celebrated volleyball coach has built an impressive legacy. Her career includes a combined record of 505-116, with 380 wins at Kingston High and a dominant 128-12 record at Mount Academy.

While coaching at Kingston, she secured 10 league titles, six Section 9 Class A Championships, and a 1995 state semifinal appearance. Recognized as the school’s winningest volleyball coach, she was named NHVAL Coach of the Year (1986) and Middletown Record Coach of the Year (1997, 1999).

In 2018, Mancuso-Lopez founded the girls’ volleyball program at Mount Academy, leading the team to rapid success. Her teams captured five Section 9 Championships, four Southeastern Regional titles, and two state championships in 2021 and 2022. Mount Academy’s 2024 season concluded with a 22-1 record and a state final appearance in Class C.

Throughout her career, she earned multiple coaching honors, including Section 9 Volleyball Coach of the Year (2020) and NYVCA Coach of the Year (2021, 2022). Her achievements include 12 sectional championships, five regional titles, 13 league titles, and two state championships.

Beyond volleyball, Mancuso-Lopez has completed endurance events such as the NYC Marathon and Ironman Lake Placid. She was inducted into the Kingston High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
