There are two candidates running for two available seats on the New Paltz Village Board in what might be the last independent election in the village’s history.
Incumbent William Wheeler Murray is seeking a second term as trustee along with newcomer Stana Weisburd.
Voters will also be asked if they wish to move future village elections to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
The language of the referendum to be decided is, “shall the date for the general village election and for any special election for elective village offices pursuant to the election law be changed to coincide with the November general election and be fully administered by the Ulster County Board of Elections?”
The village election will be held on Tuesday, May 4 from 12 to 9 p.m. at the firehouse.
