The Regional Food Bank, which is sponsored through Ulster County Community Action, will start serving Saugerties on April 23, councilwoman Leeanne Thornton told Town Board members on March 17. The food bank will operate on the fourth Friday of every month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saugerties Senior Center on Market Street. “Anyone can go and get fresh fruit and vegetables,” she said. “They are also going to have a table for folks to sign up for various programs that the county offers.” The food bank will operate from April 23 through October and the distribution is open to anyone who would like to get fresh fruits and vegetables. “Just get to the Senior Center the fourth Friday of the month and it will be there,” Thornton said. The operation is “a good example of how the Town of Saugerties works with non-profit organizations for the good of Saugerties.”
