A “Black Lives Matter” gathering takes place every Saturday at 1 p.m. at the corner of Main and Market streets in Saugerties. Daily rallies began in Saugerties shortly after the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota on May 25.
Except for a few days of severe rain between the start of these rallies and November 14, a small group of protesters have gathered every day, carrying signs with pictures of the growing number of minority citizens who died at the hands of law enforcement around the country.
Two weeks ago, the rallies switched to Saturdays and fell to once a week.
