Sylvia “Tomi” Thomas Bowden (Palmdale, CA), passed away on a rainy Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Lancaster, CA with her children by her side. She was born October 2, 1928 in Peterborough, NH to the late Lieutenant Gertrude Kerr Thomas and the late New Hampshire State Rep. Charles Thomas (both WWI Veterans). Her passing marks the end of a generation in our family. She is survived by her children Lisa (Regina Garcia) Bowden; Trudy (Daniel) Callahan; and her step children Sheryl (Junior Fuller) Bowden; Adrian Bowden; Wayne Bowden; Mary Bowden; Veronica (Charles) Belcher-Gresham, and nephew Mark (Joan) Young and niece Rebecca (Ken) Young Watson. She is preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Bowden, a son lost at birth, and step sons Barco “Butch” Bowden and James Bowden, and sister Charlotte Thomas Young. She has a number of loving grandchildren including David Jon, Brennen, Analisa, Adrian, Veronica, and great grand grandson Ethan, as well as grandnieces Kial Young, Michelle Hay, Lauren Watson, and Samantha Watson. She leaves behind many wonderful friends in Palmdale, California, in New York, and throughout the East Coast, along with so many people who graciously supported her family throughout the years. In her last days, it was her wish to personally thank each of you.
Her Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. Of John & Lafayette Sts. Saugerties. Friends will be received Wednesday 12 Noon – 2:00 PM. Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family @SeamonWilseyFuneralHome. Donations can be made to cancer research at City of Hope https://www.cityofhope.org/giving whose staff kept Tomi living twelve years past her initial breast cancer diagnosis.
