Michael Formisano, 74, of Summerfield, FL and formerly of the Hudson Valley passed away on July 29, 2021 after a very brief illness. He was born in Middletown, CT on August 28, 1946 to Josephine Bartolatta and Dominick Formisano. He graduated from New Paltz High school in 1964 and went to work for IBM until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Lloyd Thomas until 1966 and then on shore duty in in Vietnam until 1969. He then returned to IBM and retired from their employment after 30 years of service. One of Michael’s passions was music. He and his longtime friend Joe Vaccarino started a band known as The Klassics that entertained hundreds of guests weekly for many years at the Granit Hotel in Kerhonkson, NY.
Michael relocated to Florida in 2004 where he met his wife. They were married on January 26, 2008. Together they were involved in many ministries at Village View Community church in Summerfield, FL.
Michael was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was predeceased by his brother Tony in 1996 and son Vincent Formisano in 2019. He will be missed by those left behind: His wife Nancy Sherman Formisano of Summerfield, FL, father Dominick (Cele) of Summerfield, FL, sons Michael D. of Concord, CA, Joseph of Bristol, CT, and Kenneth (Margaret) of New Paltz, NY, and grandchildren Nadia and Maya Formisano of Kingston, NY, and sister Diana Formisano of Poughkeepsie, NY, in addition to many extended family members and friends in Florida.
Simultaneous Celebration of Life services were held in Summerfield, FL and Saugerties, NY on August 28, 2021, which would have been his 75th birthday.
