Matthew V. Tiedtke

GLASCO…. Matthew V. Tiedtke, 22, of Glasco Tpk., died suddenly Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his residence. Born July 20, 1995 in Samara, Russia he was the son of Ben Tiedtke and the late Terri Slater Tiedtke.

A Honors Graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 2013, Matthew loved to skate and was named the recipient of the Scholastic “Hobey Baker” award given to the High School ice hockey player who best “Exhibits strength of character both on and off the ice and contributes to the integrity of the team and displays outstanding skills in all phases of the game.”   He was also voted “Best Dressed”, “Most Individualistic”  by his high school classmates.    Matthew played the trumpet in the high school band and upon graduation attended the College of Saint Rose.

He loved playing ice hockey, composing and playing music and was known for his quick wit.  He created a summer hockey game played with Frisbees called “Battleground” that he played with his friends.

Besides his Father, Ben of Saugerties, survivors include his Maternal Grandfather, Gerry Slater of Saugerties, His Father’s Companion, Hazel Sherburne, and her children, Kieth and Edith.  Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.

Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. Cor. of John & Lafayette Sts. Saugerties.  Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family @SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.
