Janet Glendenning Loop, 87, died December 30, 2020, at Cortland (N.Y.) Park Nursing Home.
Born on May 31, 1933, in Gardner, Massachusetts, she was a graduate of Gardner High School and lived in Saugerties for 50 years, retiring in the 1990s from Red Hook Central Schools, where she was the middle-school nurse.
Janet was a member of the Saugerties Dutch Reformed Church for 50 years; a member of the Saugerties Monday Club for more than 30 years; a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of Ulster County for more than 25 years; and a volunteer in the restoration of the Saugerties Lighthouse.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Lloyd Mead Loop Jr; and her parents, Herman and Vera Glendenning.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kirstin and John Dobbs of Townsville, Queensland, Australia; her son and daughter-in-law, Mead and Jill Loop of Ithaca, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, McKenna, Isabelle and Cassandra.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet’s memory may be sent to the Saugerties Dutch Reformed Church.
