James R. Allen, age 75, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away, Sunday, December 25, 2022, in Fayetteville at the Arkansas State Veterans Home.
He was born July 28, 1947 in Albany, New York to Harold Edwin and Laura May Cole Allen. Jim was a graduate of Saugerties, New York high school, served in the U.S. Army for twelve years, was a member of the DAV, VFW, Hanau Flying Club, Galveston Flight Museum, 516th Combat Engineer Company, and Panel Bridge in Hanau, Germany.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Ranallo Allen; bonus son, Jason Varos; special friend, Violet, who raised him; his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
Jim is survived by one daughter, Dyanna Dunn of Dickinson, Texas; three bonus children, Sandra Franklin of Ragley, Louisiana, Angela Edwards of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Eric Varos of Cleveland, Texas.
A private family held memorial will be set for a later date. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
