Gail Miller

Gail Miller
May 10, 1941 – April 15, 2022

Gail Miller, 80 years old, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Gail came to Woodstock with her partner, Billy in 1985 and fell in love with the area.
She was unapologetically passionate in defense of her people and principles. Gail led by example as a devoted mother, grandmother, partner, friend, teacher, social worker, freedom fighter, mentor, gardener, and gastronomer. She lived fully and bravely, building on her family’s tradition of social justice activism.  Her causes were many, her spirit inexhaustible.  Inspired by her self-educated mother, Gail had a love of learning.  She was a skilled listener, avid reader, and adventurer both in life and in the kitchen. Most importantly perhaps, she was guided by love… For her family. For her flowers. For her friends. For her food. For humanity.

Gail will be remembered and missed for her principled stance, her energy, warmth, and grit.  Her example will forever guide us.

Gail is survived by her children, Alex, Allegra, and Sylvie, her life partner, William (Billy) Rothberg, his children, Peter and Jessica, and their 15 grandchildren.

Gail was predeceased by her parents Israel and Phyllis Miller and her brother Neil Miller.

She had a beautiful “green burial” at Rosendale Cemetery on April 21, 2022

In support of Gail’s passions, donations can be made to: U.S. Boats to Gaza, Camp Kinderland.
