Poughkeepsie to Grand Central in just under 90 minutes is only seven minutes faster than a normal express train, but that’s enough for Gov. Kathy Hochul to dub the ride “super-express” in an announcement about upgrades to Metro-North’s Hudson Line. The more impressive part? These trains will begin rolling on October 6, nearly a year ahead of schedule.
The improvements are the result of optimized scheduling and upgraded signal systems, allowing trains to operate at higher speeds with fewer delays.
The new schedule will run through spring 2026. Additional service updates include more weekend trains in the Hudson Valley and expanded Long Island Rail Road service for Ryder Cup events.
