Three Bard graduates earn 2025 Fulbright Awards

Clockwise L-R: Maia Cluver ’22, Cecilia Giancola ’25, and Oskar Pezalla-Granlund ’24.

Bard College is recognized as a top producer of Fulbright recipients, and this year is no exception. Three graduates from Bard College have been awarded 2025–26 Fulbright grants to pursue independent research and English teaching assignments abroad.

Maia Cluver (Class of 2022), who studied Art History, Visual Culture, and Human Rights, will serve as an English Teaching Assistant in Jordan. She previously worked as a language tutor at Bard and is currently employed at Al-Quds Bard’s Academic Resource Center.

Cecilia Giancola (Class of 2025), a Historical Studies major, received a research grant to India. Her project will explore the role of the Baroda state in 19th-century western India, focusing on its interactions with British colonial authorities and involvement in illicit trade.

Oskar Pezalla-Granlund (Class of 2024), an Art History and Visual Culture graduate, will conduct research in Spain. His work will examine the Museo-Biblioteca de Ultramar and its representation of Spanish colonial culture, with a particular focus on Philippine-Spanish artistic ties.

The Fulbright Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State and international partners, promotes global academic exchange and cross-cultural understanding.
