Near exit 18 in the town of New Paltz, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred on the Thruway at around 7:43am on Tuesday, May 27, according to New York State Police.
Police say Martin T. Muller, 62, of Mahopac, was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson when it suffered a rear tire blow-out as he traveled north on I87. The vehicle was thrown sideways into a roll, coming to a stop in the left lane. Muller was thrown roughly 80 feet south of the motorcycle.
Despite life-saving efforts on-scene by New Paltz Rescue EMS, Muller succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
