Eileen Theresa Horgan, died peacefully at home with her family on October 5, 2024, weeks away from her 95th birthday.
She is survived by her children: Donna Phelps (Lorne) Manasquan, NJ; Christine Roemer (Joseph) Pound Ridge, NY; Marybeth Majestic (Charles) Gardiner, NY; Edward Horgan (Jennifer) of Pleasant Valley, NY and sister Joan Houlihan of North Salem, NY. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward and her son, George Michael. Grandmother to Sean Horgan, Liz Horgan Allen (Jeff), Colleen Roemer, Hanna, Kevin & Brian (Kathleen/Kacie) Majestic, Edward and Rosemary Horgan; and Great-Grandmother to Blake, Evan & Leah Horgan and Jaiden Allen.
A devout Catholic, she loved her parish family at St. Charles Borromeo in Gardiner, with friends too numerous to mention. She volunteered at Helping Hands Food Pantry and as a retired bank teller she enjoyed counting the weekly collection. Eileen could always be found at 4:30 mass on Saturdays dressed to the nines with her dear friend, Abby.
Eileen loved her family, friends and God. She had an incredible sense of humor, enjoyed dancing and sweets and she had a beautiful way of seeing the good in everyone. She was a kind, gentle woman and will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Rd. New Paltz on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Gardiner.
Interment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery.
