Walter H. Steinlauf passed away on November 18th at the age of 75 in Sacramento CA.
Born March 1, 1948 in Kingston, NY, he was the son of the late Janette and Joseph Steinlauf.
Walter spent his youth in Woodstock before graduating from the Darrow School, New Lebanon, NY and attending Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. After some years on the East coast, he and his late wife Brenda Holden moved to the Southwest before settling in California. He worked as an Administrator for Sacramento County as an Office Specialist in the Personnel Department.
After suffering a major stroke in 2005, he created and managed an online stroke survivors advocacy network. Unfortunately, a series of subsequent strokes left him unable to continue with that work.
Surviving are his son Seth Steinlauf of Santa Clara, CA; his daughter Tenille Sadat of NYC and two grandsons Adrien and Aksel Sadat of NYC; his sisters Barbara Tors of Bedford NH and Guanacasta, Costa Rica and Karen Walker of Woodstock, NY.
He will be laid to rest at the Glenwood Cemetery in Oneonta, NY in a private ceremony.
The family wishes to thank Paul Lomendehe and his staff at Summer’s Care Home in Sacramento CA for the attention and care they provided in his last years of his life.
