Alexi Bolton was elected to serve as co-president of the Phillies Bridge Farm Project. Founded in 1996, Phillies Bridge is a not-for-profit organization that operates a community-supported agriculture (CSA) farm while running programs to advance its food justice and educational mission.
Bolton joined the board in 2018. She earned her Master’s degree in Bilingual Education from Hunter College and now works as a garden educator in the Red Hook School District. She has used her expertise and experience to build Phillies Bridge educational programs, including initiating a dual-language program last fall designed to provide children with an opportunity for some socially distanced outdoor fun while learning about farming, language and culture. Bolton has also been very active with the farm’s Food Justice Program, conducting outreach to feed insecure communities in Newburgh and launching a home garden-building initiative.
Bolton is taking the place of Brian Obach, whose term as co-president ended in January. “I can think of no one better to assume this position,” said Obach. “Alexi brings energy and enthusiasm to this work. I am certain that Phillies Bridge will continue to thrive and grow under her leadership.” Bolton is now teamed up with ongoing co-president Ariana Basco.
