Louis C. K. to perform at Civic Center

Louis C. K.

Do you know Louis C. K.? Star of Louie, the award-winning FX Network hit and stand-up comedian who writes, directs and stars in his mini-movies about what some might call “loser life,” and most of us recognize as our lives? He gets at the subtle situational hilarity of married sex, single fatherhood (and potty training), work (and the lack of it in any meaningful way), middle age and middleweights. He comes off as a well-meaning, basically sweet-natured schlub with a keen eye for odd details, like trying to explain failure to a six-year-old, or the silliness of grown men yelling at smartphones for not being fast or smart enough.

He plays big rooms, and will be at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. for one show. This guy’s the real thing, the man of the decade in his fast rise from HBO’s first live sitcom, Lucky Louie, to his featurelength concert film, Louis C. K.: Hilarious, and Louie. For a while he had a recurring role on Parks and Recreation. He’s pegged to go real big. See him now.

Stand-up comedian Louis C. K., Wednesday, March 27, 7:30 p.m., $45, Mid-Hudson Civic Center, 14 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie; tickets at www.louisck.com only.
