The Historical Society of the Town of Middletown hosts “Making Time,” an illustrated talk about the great 20th-century photographer and former Margaretville resident Art Kane, on Saturday, July 21 at 7 p.m. Kane’s son, photographer and musician Jonathan Kane, discusses the life and work of the man responsible for the famous photograph Harlem, 1958, as well as many other iconic photographs of the Rolling Stones, the Who, Janis Joplin, the Doors, Aretha Franklin and Bob Dylan. Kane studied with Alexey Brodovitch at the New School, where other students included Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Diane Arbus. At 27, the Cooper Union graduate became the art director of Seventeen, the youngest art director of a major magazine.
