Plans are currently underway for the construction of a bluestone remembrance honoring the service of Jeremy Wilber to the town of Woodstock. Wilber’s time in office made him the longest serving Supervisor in Woodstock history. Current plans as approved by Comeau Stewardship Advisory Committee, the Woodstock Land Conservency and the Woodstock Town Board call for placement of the memorial near the Supervisor’s cottage at Comeau. The structure, to be built entirely with native bluestone, will offer falling water into a reflecting pool. Slightly beneath the surface of the pool’s water will be a bluestone outline of Overlook Mountain. The water will be recycled utilizing a solar powered pump.
While all labor will be done through the volunteer efforts of the Geezer Corps, the cost of materials for the project will be met entirely through contributions from the community. As a result, the Town of Woodstock has created an account to receive donations. Anyone wishing to donate to the project can do so by writing a check to the Town of Woodstock and making sure to include in the memo line of the check “reflecting fountain.” Donations should be mailed to: Town of Woodstock, 45 Comeau Drive, Woodstock, N.Y. 12498. It is estimated that approximately $3,000 will be needed to complete the project and ensure future maintenance and upkeep of the memorial.
