wsa-@Thinking of taking some art classes, but reluctant to make a financial and time commitment without knowing more about course content and the instructor’s approach? This Sunday, the Woodstock School of Art has something just for you: the return of “Dollar Days,” when potential students can get a sample of its regular instructional offerings for just $1 per demonstration of technique and subject matter.

The special event runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 17. In Studio 1, Les Castellano will demo “Drawing & Painting from the Figure” at 9:30 a.m.; Emilie Houssart will do the same for “Classical Figure Drawing Workshop” at 12 noon; Christie Scheele will preview “Abstraction & Narrative in the Landscape,” “COLORCOLORCOLOR” and “Interpreting the Landscape in Oil and Pastel” at 2:30 p.m. In Studio 2, Wendy Hollender will offer a taste of “Drawing the Fall Bounty” at 9 a.m.; Jenne M. Currie demos “Cut & Painted Paper” at 11:30 a.m.; and Staats Fasoldt previews his three weekly “Watercolor & Drawing” classes at 2 p.m.

In Studio 4, Kate McGloughlin introduces her two weekly “Printmaking” classes, plus “Monotype II,” “Simplifying the Landscape II” and “Works on Paper” at 10 a.m.; Anthony Kirk presents “Making Monotypes with Water-Based Media: A Non-Toxic Approach to Printmaking” at 12:30 p.m.; and Karen Whitman offers “Black & White Linocut: Exploring Texture, Value, Contrast” at 3 p.m. Since three demos will be going on at any one time, it looks like the toughest initial choice will be deciding which to sample among this embarrassment of artistic riches!

To preregister for any of the scheduled demonstrations, call (845) 679-2388. The Woodstock School of Art is located at 2470 Route 212, between Easton Lane and Zena Road.
