Holiday-themed artisinal breads from Our Daily Bread.

Come and celebrate Halloween at the Saugerties Farmers Market on October 25. The final market of the season will feature tricks and treats for kids and adults.

Come to the market in costume! A contest will be held at 11:30 AM, with prizes awarded at noon for the cutest, scariest, and most creative costumes, as well as for the best costumed pet. Lucy Garrison, a market supporter, will give out gift bags of candies and treats so that no child will go away empty-handed.

Visit with animals from Tammy Drost of Hope Farm, a rescue and educational farm in Saugerties who is bringing costumed Hank the donkey, Coco the alpaca, Dori and Pippin the goats, and Cookie the lamb.

Two spooky carved pumpkin heads made by the talented local artist Giovanni Zorloza will be raffled off at the end of the market day, 2p.m.

Join Anita Barbour for kids to stamp mythical, movie, and medieval monsters (Bigfoot, Godzilla, Nessie, and many others) in coloring books that they can create at the Kids Art Corner. Always lots of fun for kids while their parents can make their way around the market.

The main event, as always, is great local food and drink, including apples, pears, grapes, winter squashes, greens, potatoes, garlic, chicken, beef, pork, eggs, apple ciders (hard and sweet), wines, spirits, Italian olive oils and vinegars, and pierogies. There will be many cheeses, including cow, goat, and sheep cheeses, as well as multiple artisanal breads, scones, and baked goods. An extraordinary variety of many cultivated and foraged mushrooms from Sustainable Sorcerers. Coleman’s Catch
Seafood brings a tasty selection of fresh fish and seafood. Lunch from Bina’s Café will be served to eat at the market café or to take home. House plants from Margot will be available to brighten up your home during the dark winter months. Stoned Handmade will have displays of bracelets, rings, and necklaces to wear all year long. Catskill Mountain Lavender will offer a variety of lavender products–soaps, lotions, oils and more–made from lavender grown on their farm in Saugerties.

The market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 115 Main St., across from Cahill Elementary School.
