Brace yourself for a tourist surge. According to the I Love NY Fall Foliage Report, foliage in the Catskill Mountains is already reaching its peak autumn colors while surrounding lowland areas of the Hudson Valley are quickly progressing in their transformation.

Thanks to a prolonged dry spell, warm daytime temperatures and cooler nights, leaves are changing in the Hudson Valley a bit sooner than usual. Peak color in the Hudson Valley is typically mid-October, but the mix of hues now unfolding means leaf-peepers will need to adjust their schedules and get moving ASAP.
Experts said it’s also likely the peak period will be shorter than usual this year, so expect a greater number of visitors in a shorter window of time.
