Main Street in New Paltz was lined with people holding handmade signs as they marched to the firehouse at 25 Plattekill Avenue for a Workers Over Millionaires nationwide protest rally on Labor Day, September 1. This event was sponsored by Indivisible New Paltz with co-sponsors U-ACT, Indivisible Ulster and Move Forward NY.

The march started from St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Traffic was stopped in both directions on Main Street while the marchers crossed the street near Plattekill Avenue for the rally at the firehouse.  Speakers included county executive Jen Metzger, New Paltz supervisor Amanda Gotto, Melissa Tierney, a Wallkill High School teacher, unionist and active member of Move Forward NY, Beth Wilson, chapter president of United University Professionals at SUNY, and Diana Klein, president of the Mid Hudson United Postal Workers union.
