Approximately 22.43 grams of cocaine along with glass pipes containing drug residue was discovered during a routine traffic stop in Catskill, according to New York State Police.
On the night of August 18, 2025, just after 11:00pm, troopers based in Catskill stopped a 2016 Jeep on Main Street in the town of Cairo for a traffic violation.
The driver, identified as 61-year-old Ellen C. Wade of Greenville, NY, was the vehicle’s sole occupant. During the traffic stop, troopers searched the vehicle and reportedly found the sizable stash.
Wade was arrested without incident and taken to the State Police barracks in Catskill for processing. She faces several charges, including third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance—a Class B felony—along with two Class A misdemeanors for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia. She was also cited for vehicle and traffic law violations.
Following her arraignment in the Town of Greenville Court, Wade was released on her own recognizance. She is expected to appear in the Town of Cairo Court on August 26, 2025, at 1:00pm.
