State Police in Highland say they put an end to a wild night of crime that involved the robbery of a liquor store, an attack on a trooper, and the endangering of children.
Police say they were responding to the burglary call at approximately 8:40pm and were en route to a Route 9W liquor store in Highland when they spotted a Nissan Murano matching the description of the getaway vehicle. Troopers pulled over the SUV as it was driving west on 44/55.
Inside, police say they found four adults and two juveniles, including Selena Fonda Bressendorff, 24, of Wallkill, who allegedly assaulted one of the troopers after becoming aggressive. An investigation led to police determining that Jahnya Bressendorff, 22 (presumably related to Selena) along with Jennifer A. Robertson, 20, both of Wallkill, perpetrated the robbery in conjunction with an unnamed 18-year-old juvenile, and that the robbery turned physical with at least one employee.
All four individuals were taken into custody and transported to the State Police barracks in Highland for processing. They each face multiple charges:
Selena Fonda Bressendorff was charged with robbery in the second degree, assault on a law enforcement officer, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), petit larceny, possession of stolen property, obstructing governmental administration, and traffic violations.
Jahnya Bressendorff faces charges of second-degree robbery, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), petit larceny, and possession of stolen property.
Jennifer A. Robertson was charged with robbery, conspiracy, tampering with physical evidence, endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), petit larceny, and possession of stolen property.
The 18-year-old juvenile was also charged with robbery, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), petit larceny, and possession of stolen property.
All four suspects were arraigned on July 31 in Ulster County Jail CAP Court and were subsequently remanded to Ulster County Jail. The two children who were present in the vehicle were placed in the care of a third party.
The Marlborough and Lloyd police departments assisted at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
