Three members of Woodstock’s town board won’t be attending the board’s scheduled meeting this Thursday, July 31 at 9 a.m. at the town offices on Comeau Drive in person. They are requesting that they participate on Zoom.
Two of them, councilmembers Bennet Ratcliff and Maria-Elena Conte, sent almost identical notes explaining their request. They said they did not feel safe in the current work environment.
The third, councilmember Anula Courtis, said it had come to her attention “that the supervisor’s confidential secretary and the employee scheduled to be discussed have jointly filed a harassment complaint against an unknown individual or individuals who have spoken out on this matter.”
Given that the topic of discussion at the session was that same employee, “I believe it is more appropriate for me to participate via Zoom,” wrote Courtis.
The subject of the special meeting is the status of town maintenance employee Michael Innello, the convicted Level 3 sex offender who is on parole for the next decade.
