Richard “Ricky” Negron was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police for the Kingston Police Department at the Police Commission meeting last night, July 16. He will oversee the day to day operations as second in command under Chief of Police Egidio Tinti.
Negron joined the Kingston force in 2003. In 2011, he was promoted to detective. In 2016, he became a sergeant. In 2022, he ascended to lieutenant. He’s also served with the department’s Police Bike Patrol and Emergency Services units, and is a member of the Law Enforcement Employee Assistance Program which gives fellow officers a helping hand on mental health and wellness.
Negron is also handy with firearms — he is a state-certified instructor in defensive tactics, firearms and field training in addition to other areas.
