The Henry W. Dubois Greenway Connector in New Paltz opened on June 15 with a community walk and bike ride. This 1.7-mile trail enhances connectivity along the Empire State Trail, linking the Hudson Valley Rail Trail to the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail.
The celebration began with a ribbon cutting at the New Paltz firehouse, followed by participants enjoying the new greenway. Parks & Trails New York distributed free helmets during the event.
Mayor Tim Rogers emphasized the trail’s value for pedestrians and cyclists, while SUNY New Paltz professor Daniel Lipson praised the efforts of former town supervisor Neil Bettez and the collaboration among various organizations. Town supervisor Amanda Gotto noted that the project, initiated in 2018, faced challenges but now provides a safe alternative for residents and visitors.
