The Ulster County Pool in New Paltz will reopen on June 14 after being closed for the 2024 season due to underground pipe failures and a deteriorating gutter system. Temporary repairs proved insufficient, leading to a full-scale renovation funded by a $3.92 million state grant.
This summer marks the first phase of improvements, with more upgrades scheduled after the pool closes again on September 1. Daily operations will continue through the summer.
For the first time, free season passes will be available to qualifying residents, including seniors and those enrolled in Medicaid or SNAP. A benefits card and photo ID confirming Ulster County residency are required to receive a pass, which will be issued on-site.
Post-season upgrades will include a new filtration system, pool deck, gutter infrastructure, zero-depth entry ramps for accessibility, and a children’s spray ground.
Ulster County also received over $11 million in additional grants to support regional aquatic infrastructure, including upgrades to the Ellenville/Wawarsing pool through the NY SWIMS program. Residents can follow county updates for ongoing project news.
