On Saturday, Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley, along with local officials, celebrated the reopening of Dietz Stadium.

The Robert H. Dietz Memorial Stadium in Kingston has officially reopened following a $22 million renovation, partially funded by $2.5 million from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Upgrades include renovations to the grandstand, new locker rooms, a new track and turf field, accessible parking and improved concession stands and restrooms.

On Saturday, Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley, along with local officials including Kingston Mayor Steve Noble, Kingston City School District Superintendent Dr. Paul Padalino and Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, celebrated the reopening of Dietz Stadium.

“The revitalization of Dietz Stadium marks a new era for the City of Kingston — where state-of-the-art athletic facilities meet community pride and regional opportunity,” Governor Hochul said. “Through our Downtown Revitalization Initiative, we’ve transformed this historic venue into a modern hub for sports, recreation and public gatherings, all while preserving its legacy and strengthening accessibility, sustainability and economic vitality for generations to come.”

On Saturday, Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley, along with local officials including Kingston Mayor Steve Noble and Kingston City School District Superintendent Dr. Paul Padalino, celebrated the reopening.

“Dietz Stadium is a tremendous asset to the City of Kingston, serving as a neighborhood hub where families gather and students thrive,” Mosley said. “Congratulations to the City of Kingston for their ongoing efforts to enhance the community!”

Dietz Stadium, which seats 2,000, is used daily for Kingston City School athletics and is home to the Kingston Stockade Football Club, in addition to hosting regional competitions and recreational activities.

“We are grateful to New York State for the financial support that made these renovations possible,” said Dr. Padalino. “This stadium is vital for both the school district and the city, exemplifying successful collaboration between state and local governments.”

The renovation is part of a broader restoration of the complex, which also includes updates to the nearby Andretta Pool. Mayor Noble highlighted that the upgrades will enable the venue to host regional sporting events, benefiting the Stockade Business District and the community as a whole.

On Saturday, Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley, along with local officials, celebrated the reopening of Dietz Stadium.

Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger also celebrated the improvements to Dietz Stadium, highlighting its historical significance for the community and its current role as the home field for the Kingston Stockade FC. She expressed gratitude for the funding from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative and acknowledged the collaboration of local leaders in bringing the project to fruition. Metzger looks forward to seeing local soccer games on the renovated field.
