A Bronx man has been arrested in connection with a grand larceny case involving the alleged theft and alteration of a substantial government-issued check, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities began their investigation on Jan. 23, after receiving a report that a check worth roughly $65,000, issued by the Ulster County Department of Social Services, had been stolen, altered, and deposited via an ATM in Brooklyn.
Through investigative efforts, detectives identified 22-year-old Famod Konneh of the Bronx as the suspect. With support from the New York City Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service’s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, Konneh was located and arrested in Brooklyn on Apr. 9.
Konneh faces a felony charge of grand larceny in the second degree. He was transported to Ulster County and arraigned in the Town of Ulster Justice Court, after which he was released on his own recognizance. He is expected to appear in court again at a future date.
