A benefit to keep Woodstock Elementary open will be held on April 13 at 12:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Studio behind the public parking lot across from Colony on Rock City Road.
Author Adam Snyder will be in conversation with Peter Aaron, a journalist, radio host, frontman for the Chrome Cranks, and author of a number of music-related books.
Snyder grew up in Kingston and now lives in Woodstock. His genre-blending first novel, Kingston 76, was about a Kingston boy in the 1970s navigating a newly gay household while at the same time trying to solve a local mystery.
He’s also known for his solo work as a musician, and for his years in Mercury Rev.
Woodstock’s Rock Academy will also present a full set of 1970s classics at the event. Rock Academy is a performance-based music school where students study with working musicians and play live gigs regularly throughout the year.
“The rock-the-vote aspect of this event is super-important,” Snyder said. “Voting no on the proposed bond on May 20 is absolutely essential to keep Woodstock Elementary open. I’m a proud Woodstock Elementary parent. It’s a thriving school. Losing it would be a blow not only to the kids but to the whole community.”
The free event includes a book signing.
