Phoenicia Playhouse has announced its 2025 season, promising an mix of theatrical performances, live music, film screenings, and community events.
The season kicks off in March with the Flying Cat Monthly Music Series, featuring James Keelaghan with David Woodhead on March 29 at 7:00pm, with doors opening at 6:30pm.
April brings the musical RESPECT: This One’s for the Girls, running April 4–6 and 11–13. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00pm, with Sunday performances at 2:00pm on April 6 and 1:00pm on April 13. Later in the month, the Flying Cat Monthly Music Series returns on April 19 at 7:00pm with Blue Cactus.
May offers a selection of documentary and feature films, with specific details available on the Playhouse website. On May 17, Being Black While Farming will be presented as part of the Phoenicia Farmers Market. Amy Oppenheimer’s play Looking for Justice: in all the wrong places will be performed on May 31 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. The month’s music lineup includes The Rick Reyes Trio on May 24 at 7:00pm, while the Hinterland Film Club hosts a screening and discussion of Being John Malkovich on May 25 at 4:00pm.
June continues with more film screenings and community-focused programming. An Open Mic Night is scheduled for June 12 at 7:00pm, welcoming all local performers. The Flying Cat Monthly Music Series features Goodnight Moonshine with Molly of Red Molly on June 14 at 7:00pm. Additional highlights include Reservoiristas, a combination of short film screenings and book readings on June 21, and a reading by Round The Bend Theater on June 23.
In July, Robert Thomas and the Sessionmen take the stage on July 12 at 7:00pm as part of the Flying Cat Monthly Music Series. The beloved musical Bye Bye Birdie will run from July 24 to August 10, with performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:00pm, and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm.
August’s lineup includes another installment of the Flying Cat Monthly Music Series featuring Amy Speace on August 16 at 7:00pm. On August 23, a public performance from the Youth Workshop’s Make A Play program will be held at 11:00am.
September brings readings of new works, with details available on the website. Julian Taylor will perform on September 20 at 7:00pm as part of the Flying Cat Monthly Music Series. Another Open Mic Night is scheduled for September 25 at 7:00pm, providing a platform for local talent. Film screenings continue throughout the month.
In October, Laurie MacAllister of Red Molly performs on October 4 at 7:00pm. The highly anticipated production of Little Shop of Horrors will run from October 17 through November 2, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. The Playhouse will also screen Halloween classic films throughout the month.
November’s events include an unplugged performance by The Slambovian Circus of Dreams on November 15 at 7:00pm. The Hudson Valley Filmmakers Showcase, presented by Jack Warren, will take place on November 22 at 7:00pm.
December concludes the season with Fully Committed, running December 5–14, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00pm, and matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00pm. The season wraps up with a Community Holiday Show on December 20 at 4:00pm, an event designed for families and children.
