A rollover crash in the Town of Esopus snarled traffic on Monday, Mar. 10 and caused injuries and downed power lines.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 8:35am, following reports of a serious accident on Union Center Road near William White Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 2014 Toyota Tacoma that had overturned and come to rest on its side off the roadway.
The vehicle’s sole occupant, a 45-year-old Bloomington resident, informed deputies that he had been traveling northbound on Union Center Road when he swerved to avoid another vehicle that had entered his lane. This maneuver caused him to veer off the road, where his truck collided with a Central Hudson utility pole, snapping it in half. The impact led to the vehicle rolling over before it came to a stop.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Kingston Health Alliance Hospital for medical evaluation.
Due to the damaged utility pole, Union Center Road remained closed for several hours while Central Hudson crews worked to complete necessary repairs.
The investigation remains ongoing as deputies attempt to identify the other vehicle involved. Authorities are requesting that anyone with surveillance footage of Union Center Road or information related to the accident contact the confidential tip line at 845-340-3599.
