Woodstock Democratic Committee announces endorsements for town council; no endorsement in town supervisor race

At its February 12 meeting, the Woodstock Democratic Committee (WDC) voted unanimously to endorse Lily Korolkoff and Laurie Osmond for the two Woodstock town council seats up for election this year. The committee also unanimously voted to not endorse at this time in the race for town supervisor, after hearing from three candidates — Anula Courtis, Erin Moran and David Wallis — who requested to come before the WDC.

Korolkoff and Osmond were the only two individuals who presented to the committee and formally requested its endorsement for the two town council positions.

Petition circulation to collect the required number of signatures for candidates to appear on the ballot for the Democratic primary on June 24 will take place from February 25 to April 3. Early voting for the primary election will run from June 14-22.

“The Woodstock Democratic Committee deeply appreciates all of the candidates who took the time to meet with us, share their perspectives and answer questions from our members,” said WDC co-chairs Amy Fradon and Jeff Collins. “Woodstock has long been a beacon for Democratic turnout in Ulster County and across the region, thanks in part to the dedication of our Democratic Committee members, the efforts of our Neighbor to Neighbor program and the enthusiasm of our incredible voters. We remain steadfast in our mission to inform and engage the public and to drive strong democratic turnout.”

As part of its ongoing voter engagement efforts, the Woodstock Democratic Committee will be hosting multiple candidate forums and organizing other educational events this year to further inform Woodstock residents about their government. All town candidates, regardless of endorsement, who qualify to be on the primary election ballot will be invited to participate in the candidate forums. Details and dates for the forums and events will be forthcoming.

“In addition to these initiatives, the committee will continue its robust get-out-the-vote operation and historic fundraising to further financially support our voter contact efforts and candidates,” said the co-chairs.
