Citizens want armed officers in every Kingston city school

A Port Ewen man with multiple illegal items was caught while parked on restricted property, according to New York State Police.

Michael J. Eisgruber was arrested on Jan. 20, 2025 in connection with several criminal charges following an incident in Catskill. The charges against Eisgruber include Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 5th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, Manufacture of Drug-Related Paraphernalia (Methamphetamine), Petit Larceny, and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd Degree.

The arrest occurred around 7:34am on Rt. 9W at a property belonging to Peckham Industries. Authorities allege that Eisgruber stole a key secured in a black key box attached to a gate post at the site, which was intended for use by company employees only. Investigators claim that he entered the fenced property without authorization, triggering the police response.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Eisgruber inside a vehicle parked on the restricted property. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a forged red and black inspection sticker displayed on the windshield, stolen license plates affixed to the car, several plastic bags containing crystal methamphetamine weighing approximately 1.0 grams, and a glass pipe typically used for drug consumption.

Eisgruber was taken into custody at the location and transported to the State Police barracks in Catskill, where he was processed on the listed charges. He was later arraigned in the Town of Cairo Court and released on his own recognizance pending further legal proceedings.
