Many locals know Hannaford in the Kingston Plaza can be hub of activity, but flare guns are a new addition.
According to a Kingston police investigation, reports of “shots fired” outside the supermarket on Wednesday afternoon turned out to be an unspecified number of “juveniles” causing havoc, including two teens firing flare guns at each other.
Police said no serious injuries were reported and that they confiscated the flare guns and interviewed witnesses. Their initial statement indicated suspects were taken into custody. There was no record of the incident in the police blotter published the following day. Typically, when minors are arrested, their names are redacted from public records.
Authorities stated that no additional details would be provided due to the age of the alleged perpetrators.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact detectives Adam Hotaling or Christopher Hulbert at (845) 331-1671 or via email at detectives@kingston-ny.gov.
