Local fans of fantasy/alternative clothing and decor were sad to hear that Dragon Realm, a New Paltz retailer, was closing after six years in business. Jan. 20 marked the store’s last day open.
“Thank you for joining us along our adventure and our experience! Thank you for being there through the fun times and the tough times,” wrote the owners on Facebook.
“2024 was such a shit show and as much as we hoped and prayed that it would turn around and get better, it just isn’t happening,” read another post.
For now, seekers of dragon figurines, cat skeleton earrings, pentagram necklaces and horror movie merchandise will be without a local purveyor.
All is not lost, however, as the owners hinted that the retail space would be switching over to a new “collective” project involving “a collection of old and new, handcrafted and remade”.
