Saugerties Police reported 50-year-old resident Claude R. Curry was involved in a dispute that led to a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt and a misdemeanor count of criminal obstruction of breathing or circulation.
On the evening of January 13th, 2025 around 10:44pm, the Saugerties Police Department apprehended Curry. After being processed at the Saugerties Police Department, he was scheduled for arraignment at the Central Arraignment Part (CAP) Court in Kingston, New York.
This was not the first time Curry was arrested after a domestic dispute alleging the same charge.
On August 4, 2022, police recieved reports of Curry, then 48, allegedly engaging in a fight with another person in which Curry employed a chokehold. He was later charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and was processed before being released on his own recognizance, with the court issuing an order of protection for the alleged victim.
