At Wednesday’s Board of Education Meeting, Trustees voted 7-1 to approve a contract that will see Kingston School district Superintendent Paul Padalino continue serve through the academic year ending in 2028.
Padalino was hired by unanimous vote in 2021 at a salary of $179,000. Under the recently approved contract, he’ll be paid $269,000 for 2025-2026 and $291,500 for 2027-2028.
Padalino has overseen myriad initiatives to improve school infrastructure and policy, including multi-million-dollar renovations, and efforts to address school safety including handling a recent spate of unsubstantiated violent threats. He has tackled smartphone use in schools, transitioning high school sports to the newly renovated Dietz Stadium, and the traumatic aftermath of the Covid pandemic.
Padalino now sets his sights on addressing unsafe lead levels in the district’s water, improving athletic fields for middle and elementary schools, and working with stakeholders throughout the district to make Kingston’s schools stronger and safer.
