Who stole a vintage school desk from the Kingston Library and donated or sold it to P&T Surplus? We may never know, but at least the story has a happy ending.
After a P&T Surplus shopper spotted a desk they thought they recognized from Kingston Library, owner Tim Smythe was notified and contacted the library. Sure enough, library employees confirmed it was their missing desk, and a library clerk headed to the store to recover it.
“We couldn’t ask for a better community,” read a Kingston Library Facebook post about the episode.
P&T Surplus is a popular longtime purchaser and retailer of used and surplus items. Initial reports indicated the desk had been donated.
