The legendary Last Poets, hailed as the forefathers of hip-hop, make their first-ever appearance in Woodstock headlining the Rebel Soul Music Fair this Saturday. Known for their powerful fusion of poetry and activism since their groundbreaking debut in 1971, the group has collaborated with icons from Pharoah Sanders to Kanye West. Joining them at the Woodstock Playhouse are dance music pioneer Strafe, whose timeless hit “Set It Off” remains a club anthem, and Rebelle, bringing their soulful blend of African roots reggae. Rounding out the night, Synacure will perform “Who Are We Now?”—a thought-provoking track inspired by unreleased work from Last Poets members Abiodun Oyewole and Baba Don Babatunde. Expect an evening of rhythm, reflection, and revolution as the pulse of our times is explored through music and poetry.
